The KIM development team is pleased to announce the release of version 1.8.0 of the KIM application programming interface (API). By conforming to this API, an atomistic simulation code will seamlessly work with any KIM-compliant interatomic model written in any supported language. This release includes improvements to the build system and a new collections-info utility to provide configuration information on the kim-api installation, and to get a list of installed models and model drivers.
Version 1.8.0 has the following main features:
Deprecated significatant features and methods in preparation for kim-api-v2.0.0
Updated build-config utility with more flexible options
Removed KIM_LINK = dynamic-link option of build system
Modified/Fixed/Improved the configuration and build system
Added collections-info utility for querying environment variables,
user configuration files, and lists of models and model drivers in the
collections.
